Steve Pratt, Account Executive
Pratt comes to BZA with more than 20 years of experience in the newspaper industry. He spent the past 10 years at the Los Angeles Times as a sports news editor on the design desk. Prior to that, he served six years at the Ventura County Star working the design desk, covering preps, the outdoors and writing a weekly tennis column. After graduating from Pepperdine University with his BA degree in Journalism, Pratt began his full-time newspaper career at the now defunct Camarillo Daily News in 1992 before moving to the Star. He was the editor in chief of both the Pepperdine Graphic Weekly and the Santa Maria Hancock College Oracle during his collegiate years. He got his newspaper start taking fish reports and bowling scores at the Santa Maria Times as a 16-year-old high school junior. An avid tennis fan and player, Pratt covered the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., for the USTA’s website (USOpen.org) in 2008 and has been a freelance tennis writer for Inside Tennis for the past 12 years and has also written for Tennis Week and Tennis Life magazines. He has been with BZA since October of 2008.
